Ceramic Work

I continually change some aspect or another of my work. This helps me retain an open approach and be more interactive with my surroundings and the people or cultures that I am involved with. The materials and processes that I use are changeable and dependent on the expressive need of the issues of a particular artwork or grouping. As well, materials and their inherent qualities are a formative aspect of my artwork and are often as central to the content of the artwork as the imagery.  My current work continues my interest in the imagery of leaves, branches and roots but equally important, it is in clay. I am totally engaged with the physical plasticity of clay and its ability to retain expressive mark making and forming. Also, clay is integral to all aspects of the artwork: material, structure, form building, expressive surface and color. Everything is latent within the clay and how I react to it.
